June 11, 2026 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that, after 34 years of serving the Taft community, Alpha House, “A Place of New Beginnings,” and the Alpha House Thrift Store will be permanently closing their doors effective immediately. This decision was incredibly difficult and was not made lightly. Due to ongoing financial challenges and the continued rise in operating costs, we are no longer able to continue serving the community in the way we have for so many year

We look forward to what the coming year will bring and we'd like to wish each and every one of our supporters a Happy New Year.

Thanks to a donation from California Resource Corporation (CRC) and a partnership with Grocery Outlet, Alpha House was able to provide 12 Grocery Outlet gift cards. Alpha House collaborated with the Taft City School District to distribute these cards to local families in need during the holiday season.
